ROSE & THISTLE LODGE No. 158 INSTALLATION
WEDNESDAY 10th APRIL 2019
 
RW. Brother Keith Alan Beardmore, Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW.Bro. Geoffrey Herbert Lee, Grand Officers, 30 members of the team of Acting Provincial Grand Officers and the Provincial Grand Master’s Special Representative W. Bro. Martin Stokes, attended the Installation of Brother Norman Hughes into the Chair of Adoniram of the Rose & Thistle Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 158 on Wednesday 10th April 2019. In total sixty brethren attended to make sure this was a very enjoyable occasion for the Master elect.

The Lodge being opened, and the usual business conducted, the Rt. W. Provincial Grand Master and distinguished guests entered in processional order under the direction of W Bro David Emmerson Prov. G.D.C. As the W.M.M., W. Bro. Malcolm I. Bell (Jnr) was required elsewhere in his role as Craft Provincial G.D.C., a very cordial welcome was given by the Acting W.M.M., W. Bro. Arthur Pettit and the usual salutations were extended. The RW. Prov. G.M. took the gavel as was his right and temporarily occupied the Master’s Chair in order to introduce the members of his Provincial Team.

Bro Norman was presented and Installed into the Chair in an excellent and very professional way by W. Bro. Arthur Pettit. The working tools were explained by W. Bro Alan Lloyd, in a faultless manner. W Bro Chris Furmston delivered the Keystone address followed by W Bro Derek Todd who gave the address to the Master. The addresses to the Wardens and Overseers were given by W Bros Malcolm Serjeant Prov. S.W. and Lucas Kelley Prov. J.W. respectively, with the address to the Brethren by The RW. Provincial Grand Master Keith Beardmore.
Following the Installation, the Rt. W. Prov. G.M. was presented with cheques, one for £200 to the West Lancs Mark Charities, one to the Wigan & Leigh Hospice for £100 and one to Pemberton Masonic Hall for £200. A further amount of £160 had already been given to the Masonic Hall through Gift Envelopes. Making an impressive total of £660.

The Festive Board was a very relaxed and friendly affair enjoyed by all present. The Rt. W. Provincial G.M. saying how much he had enjoyed the evening. The Lodge “50 Club” raffle prize of £50 was won by W. Bro. Alan Lloyd whilst a bottle of whisky and some wines were won by Lodge members and visitors. The Raffle on the evening raising a total of £180 for the Lodge widows and charities.
The Masters Song was performed very professionally by Lodge J.O. Bro. Ian Dawson whilst the music for both the Ceremony and Festive Board was provided very kindly by the Shaun Haynes Prov. G. Org.
